Chemonics is conducting an external recruit for an Agriculture and Food Security (AFS) Practice Summer Intern! The AFS portfolio currently includes seven projects spanning a wide range of technical sectors (agricultural production, markets, nutrition, behavior change, policy, climate change, etc.).We are looking for individuals who have apassion for making a differencein the lives of people around the world. This role can be remote or DMV based with a preference for DMV based candidates.
Position Overview:
The AFS Practice works across regions within Chemonics with projects and proposal teams to advance technical excellence and development impact by generating, capturing, and sharing knowledge in the areas of resilience, market systems, private sector engagement, access to finance for, nutrition and gender and youth inclusion in agriculture. The AFS Practice intern will be an integral member of the Practice Management Team (PMT) and support all aspects of practice management over a period of 10 weeks, 40 hours per week.
The position will include assisting with planning and implementation of practice initiatives, research efforts, preparing technical resources, and other new business and technical tasks as needed. The specific tasks and deliverables for the role will be determined based on priorities at the time of engagement and the intern's interest. The AFS Practice intern will also gain an understanding of the international development field and Chemonics technical areas.
Responsibilities:
o In partnership with the AFS team and relevant projects and practice staff, produce a learning product that summarizes Chemonics approach to increasing resilience and improving food security in the face of economic, climate, and/or conflict shocks. The learning product will be based on available quantitative and qualitative data.
