The Omni Shoreham Hotel is seeking a dynamic Director of Sales who brings strong leadership and revenue-focused hotel experience and is interested in joining an industry leading company. Based in Washington, DC., the ideal candidate will engage in leading a team of sales associates responsibly for account development and revenue generation.

The purpose of this position is to develop and execute strategic sales plans to generate and optimize overall revenues, through direct sales that will impact positively on the hotel. This person will lead, motivate and support the sales team to maximize revenues and margins; maintain positive interdepartmental communications; contribute to the overall direction of the hotel and effectively manage all sales expenses while exceeding overall budgeted revenues and RevPAR goals. Success is initially measured through annual sales, increased revenues, improved account revenue share, increased customer value and ultimately RevPAR Index premiums.

Responsibilities

General

    Exceed budgeted group sales team goals on a monthly and annual basis
  • Implement and maintain Omni brand standards.
  • Develop, maintain and implement sales strategies / action plans to generate group revenues for the hotel.
  • Motivation of all sales team members, through development and support, to ensure productivity.
  • Active solicitation of select key personal accounts on behalf of the Hotel.
  • Maintain team focus on a Proactive solicitation environment.
  • Develop, maintain and implement the budgeting and forecasting process for all group sales.
  • Ensure that all administrative procedures are in place and functioning effectively.
  • Ensure that all required reports are completed on a timely basis.
  • Ensure a challenging and exciting environment to encourage full career development and personal growth in order to drive the maximum possible results.
  • Support and promote all Corporate programs to increase customer awareness of Omni Hotels & Resorts.

Business Planning

  • Uses resources such as Knowland, Topline, STR, as examples, on a regular basis for data to assist on the development and execution of sales plans in all group market subsegments.
  • Develops and executes tactical sales processes that support the hotel's strategic plan.
  • Organizes activities and resources in a manner that maximizes productivity and efficiency
  • Monitors achievement of objectives and goals for the hotel and takes appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the strategic plan.
  • Grow relationships at the appropriate levels, both internally and externally that enable the development and advancement of sales initiatives.

Leadership

  • Ability to successfully lead group sales efforts to increase overall revenue.
  • Seeks input and opinions from all relevant parties.
  • Secures all facts prior to making decisions.
  • Accurately recognizes the strengths / limitations of others.
  • Accepts leadership responsibilities by modeling proper selling techniques, effective development of others and commitment to industry and personal development.

Communication

  • Develops an effective presentation (orally and written) where ideas, opinions, recommendations and conclusions are clearly understood.
  • Maintains efficient communication with Key Accounts.
  • Clearly articulates vision, goals, initiatives and expectations for the hotel to all sales team members.
  • Promotes and provides leadership in fostering property sales / Global Sales synergies
Qualifications
  • 4-year bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years hotel group sales experience required
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Director of Sales, or Assistant Director of Sales required in a large group hotel with at least 30,000 sq.ft. of meeting space
  • A proven sales leader, with a strong track record in delivering results
  • An experienced leader who brings to bear multiple years of experience, from multiple properties and teams, prepared to engage and to lead.
  • A driven sales leader, with a passion for the business, and to inspire the group sales team to win.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales and leadership practices as it relates to hospitality
  • Identify and understand account potential amongst all group subsegments.
  • Manage the customer decision and relationship process with all sales team members.
  • Ability to communicate issues and concerns at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to direct and lead activities through internal and external resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Business planning skills and goal setting skills.
  • Ability to assess the competitive arena as it relates to region and segment to refine / improve customer value proposition.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and re-prioritize, when necessary,
  • Team management skills including engagement in difficult issues and effective influence with non-direct reports
  • Proficiency with the use of FDC, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and access database tools including Knowland and Topline.
