Overview

The Vice President, Business Intelligence & Analytics, is a senior IT leader responsible for executing the organization's technological vision, strategy, and innovation roadmap for BI reporting and data analytics. This position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for managing delivery and operations through a remote, geographically dispersed team.

The focus of this role is to spearhead strategic planning for analytics initiatives, mentoring the team to deliver strategic solutions within deadlines, and contribute significantly to the development of cutting-edge prototypes and final deliverables that tackle business challenges and generates enthusiasm across business departments. You will be at the forefront of problem-solving and innovation, leveraging a modern data architecture. This role will lead a team to think critically and creatively about data that will be a driving force in growing our customer base, streamlining operational processes, and building a data first culture.

This will be a hybrid position (3 days in office/2 days remote) to be based at either our Falls Church, VA, or Dallas, TX office.

Responsibilities
    Directs the detailed analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and other delivery methods used to support business, clinical, and research analysis
  • Manages, designs, and develops integrated data environment plans relevant to report system implementations
  • Establishes standards to ensure communication to the client regarding the status of problems, enhancements, and development projects occurs in a consistent manner and on a regular basis
  • Improves the implementation, design, and maintenance process by evaluating the adequacy of the tool sets and introducing new tools, techniques, and practices to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Performs system design, requirements design, and benchmarking for administrative and financial information systems
  • Provides assistance to senior leadership in the development of projected timetables for proposed projects
  • Researches, proposes, and implements innovative usage of cutting-edge technology to advance the mission and goals of ViaPath (mobile delivery solutions, self-service reporting, advanced analytics, etc.)
  • Coach, mentor, team player, and collaborator are instrumental in fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. Guide the business to formulate data driven solutions
  • Foster the development of a highly proficient team of BI/Analytics experts who efficiently deliver solutions (including Reporting, Dashboard/Visualizations & Mobile Applications), promoting uniformity, analytical advancement, and a culture of business enablement via information throughout the organization
  • Drive the vision and execution of data standards set by the company and data governance, transformation, and warehouse solutions. This role will work with business leaders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable insights
  • Manage a lean internal team, defining roles and responsibilities, and mentoring with empathy and accountability to drive results. Also, prior experience partnering with third-party consultants and contractors to drive maximum value from both internal expertise and external scalability
  • Build the analytics strategy and capabilities that support our cross-functional partners and Mural's business strategy, establishing metrics and measurement strategies
  • Work with product and business leaders to establish clear definitions of KPIs, health metrics, and reporting standards
  • Solve hard analytical problems for the business, in partnership with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and others
  • Work with executive management across finance, operations, and sales as a promoter and driver of business enablement, continuous process improvement, and automation efficiency
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science / Engineering / Technology or related discipline, required. Masters in Information Systems / Analytics and/or MBA candidates are preferred
  • 12+ years' experience in a Senior IT Leadership position, with at least 5 years leading data warehouse and BI reporting teams
  • 6 years' experience with Business Intelligence / Analytical architecture, frameworks, tools and development lifecycles with increasing levels of supervisory and leadership responsibilities
  • Prior experience in leading predictive modeling and machine learning analytics is highly desirable
  • Experience identifying use cases opportunities for Advanced Analytics, building POC's to prove out value and justify investment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and manage through influence across functional departments
  • Possess a strong passion for data and adeptly utilize your skills in data programming, quantitative analysis, and data visualization techniques to tackle complex challenges
  • Excellent project management (Agile/Kanban) and delivery leadership
  • Qualified candidates will have the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, tailoring communication from technology to business target audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with and effectively communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience in managing cloud processes, consumption and contracts for data and analytic platforms
  • Working knowledge of supply & demand planning to lead application optimization and statistical analysis
