The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Systems Maintenance Supervisor. This is supervisory work for the Maryland Transit Administration, overseeing the installation, testing, maintenance, operation, design, inspection, and repair of highly technical and complex electro-mechanical equipment and analog and digital circuitry. Employees participate in budget preparation, the financial accounting of labor materials; and interfacing with training personnel to assist and support training activities. The Supervisor of Systems Maintenance is responsible for maintaining awareness and understanding of changes in transit equipment and systems technology and operations, and developing new and improved maintenance techniques. Employees directly supervise electronic technicians, repair personnel, and clerical employees. Employees receive managerial supervision from a Superintendent, Rail Car maintenance or other designated official. Work is normally performed in an office setting. Employees may be required to travel to various locations throughout the MTA service area in all kinds of weather conditions. Employees are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland. North Avenue Light Rail System Maintenance

Schedule: 6:00AM-2:30PM,
Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate AND satisfactory completion of a program in a formal vocational or trade school or other formal training in one or more of the following fields:
1. High voltage electrical power and related control systems.
2. Electronic communications systems.
3. Railroad signaling and train control systems.
4. Electronic fare collection systems.
5. Railcar electronic systems.
6. Other complex electro-mechanical or electrical systems.

Experience: Five years minimum experience in one or more of the fields listed above. Experience must also include working with complex digital and analog circuitry.

SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.

2. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.

3. Employees are required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or beeper) for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.

4. Employees may be required to work evenings, night shifts and weekends.

5. Employees in this classification are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to adhere to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status.



Licenses & Certifications

Licenses & Certifications:

1. Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle.

2. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require a valid State of Maryland Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B restricted license. In addition, successful candidates for Metro positions must obtain Maryland CDL class B with a P endorsement. Employees will be required to possess these licenses prior to the end of their probationary period.
